OCTOBER GODDESS

Colored pencil drawing 2024

Mimi Seton (“Seton") comes from a long career in Theatre and Music in the USA and Europe. She began as an actress-singer and moved into writing, composing and directing both for the stage and for recordings of text and music. Her love of travel and adventure combined with a mystical bent that sometimes includes prophetic dreaming, took her to Western Europe where she lived for over 20 years in four different countries, teaching acting and singing in fine universities, artists’ unions, professional performance programs, prisons and community centers. Education is one of her supreme values; she teaches because she loves learning.

In 2013, Seton was in a car crash in which she sustained serious concussions that left her with some cognitive challenges and with hyperacusis. This is a hearing condition that makes people hyper-sensitive to sound and noise. It made working with Music - her greatest love - impossible and she is in the process of turning that personal tragedy into something she can be grateful for: a new life as a visual artist. She concentrates on photography, drawing, doodling, painting and making mixed media pieces, currently most interested in abstracts, but also sometimes addressing her favorite theme: Women, Our history. Our psychology. Our natural connection to the life force.
